The latest in Yacht wear

Today is just a rain day, so I thought I would catch up on some blogs. This is Steve wearing the latest in sun avoidance gear (aka a $10 pair of old man pjs). He says they work great, light airy and fashionable! 

The Gulf

We hiked 3 miles total to go to the Gulf side and back. Here's a pic of the Gulf.  

Cato Costa

So we spent the day at the state park. We hiked and collected sea shells. I'll have to post pics of my finds. The best part was rowing over to Manatee Hole and actually seeing Manatees!

Time for a morning row. Cayo Costa state park, Pelican Bay.

It was glorious while there was wind

So after a 7 hour sail yesterday to get to a dock that had a Publix within walking distance(1.3 miles), we were off this morning to Cayo Costa and it was great while we could carry the wing on wing sails. After that it was hot, sticky and after a sail change we finally gave up and turned on the motor.  

Bridges

 The bridge tenders on the ICW are super nice. But this was our first bridge that was tall enough we didn't need to hale. 

Foggy morning at Punta Gorda

It's a little taste of New England for me this Monday morning, as long as I overlook the palm trees.  It's nice to have a cool morning after getting baked and overheated yesterday. We did 29.01 NM over 7:26 for an average of 3.9 KT.  Only 8 NM was under motor until the perfect breeze sprang up that allowed us to sail up Charlotte harbor without ever having to beat to weather. Total odo is 70.14 NM. Off to much anticipated Cayo Costa SP this morning.
