South of the border

The first highway billboard didn't grab our attention. Nor did the second, or the tenth. But after the 142nd sign, we decided to stop for breakfast burritos.

Boat is in the water

So one nice thing about it taking till after dark to launch the boat, is you get to see this guy come hang out on the dock with you.  

Last road stop

So we're at Matt and Karen's, we stopped here last night as a free place to crash and to have a yummy ham dinner (which today's sandwiches were a causality of). It was awesome to catch up and see family. Matt helped with the halyard loading and had dry/wet sand paper so we could finish coppering the ruder.  This is Steve closing up the boat so we get underway.   

He's going the distance/ He's going for speed

So trailering the boat to FL has been interesting so far. First impressions include: all time and distance estimates are off cause it's hard to calculate with 4500 lbs hanging off the back. Also, every little jostle has you cringing while looking in the rear view to make sure all is still good. Also what's with a 2017 F350 with no aux jack for the audio? Trying to find a decent radio station is impossible. Meanwhile Bfast burritos from SouthoftheBorder were a great way to start the day.  

Ready to Go

So it takes longer to pack a boat than you might think. This was the last stop, air in the trailer tires. Before heading out. Big smootches to Cin and Patrick for all the help getting us underway.   

Packing Lightly

So keeping the packing as under control as possible is always a goal when planning a trip on a boat. This doesn't look very under control to me however.  

Hatch Boards and other creature comforts

We are getting ready.  As Steve said, "it's coming together." I know how to fall back and punt, so whatever is not ready, we'll just work around.  Here's the new hatch boards, view from outside, and from inside.
